Admission requirements for international students applying for undergraduate courses at George Washington University
George Washington University welcomes international students from all over the world. If you are a domestic student, you must submit some additional application materials to apply as a freshman or an international transfer student. George Washington University believes that students who are not American or have no permanent residency in the United States are international students.
1. Admission requirements for freshmen in international universities
(1) high school transcripts, academic reports and interim reports
Official high school transcripts must be submitted by your high school to George Washington University, either online or by email. Your report card must show your grades from grade 9 to grade 1 1 and the courses you studied in grade 3. Mid-term grades must be submitted to George Washington University by your high school.
(2) Letter of recommendation
You need to submit a recommendation letter from the counselor and a recommendation letter from the teacher with a general application form.
(3) Portfolio (only applicable to applicants in Cauquelin Campus)
If you want to apply for a course in Cauquelin School of Humanities at George Washington University, you need to submit a collection of 10- 15 works. If possible, try to make the contents in your folder relevant to the course you applied for.
(4) TOEFL, IELTS and Pearson Academic English Test scores.
If you are an international student, you don't need to submit SAT or ACT test scores, unless you are a student who still needs to submit test scores.
If English is not your first language, then you need to submit TOEFL, IELTS or Pearson Academic English Test scores. However, if your SAT reading test score reaches 600, or your ACT English test score reaches 27 or higher, you can avoid submitting your English proficiency test score.
If you have completed all academic courses in the last four years (except foreign language courses and ESL/ELL courses) in a school with English as the only teaching language, you can also be exempted from submitting English language proficiency test scores.
(5) Proof of economic guarantee
If you need to apply for an F- 1 student visa or a J- 1 exchange student visa, you need to submit a financial guarantee certificate (PDF) and a bank statement. This financial guarantee requirement is necessary because at George Washington University, international students are not eligible for grants on demand.
The financial guarantee certificate (PDF) must be filled in by yourself and signed by your guarantor. The bank statement must be issued by the bank where your account or guarantor's account is located, which proves that you have the ability to provide sufficient funds for studying abroad. The proof of funds must be converted into US dollars and signed by the student himself.
(6) Copy of passport
The name on the I-20 form must match the name on your passport.
(7) International academic certificate
You need to submit official documents of all your previous educational experiences to George Washington University. For China students, you need to submit a high school diploma; For Hong Kong students, the results of HKCEE and the expected results of HKALE are required.
2. Admission requirements for international transfer students
(1) university transcripts
When applying for the undergraduate course of George Washington University, international transfer students need to submit the official examination transcripts of previous universities. These qualifications are required (regardless of whether credits are obtained) and submitted directly by the registration office to the admissions office of George Washington University.
