The College of Materials Science and Engineering of North University of China, referred to as the Third Academy for short, has the right to award doctoral programs in materials science and engineering and the key construction discipline in Shanxi Province-materials processing engineering.
The college has two departments: materials processing engineering department and materials science department. There are five undergraduate majors: material forming and control engineering, metal material engineering, inorganic nonmetallic material engineering, polymer material and engineering, composite material and engineering, among which material forming and control engineering is a national specialty and a provincial brand specialty, while polymer material and engineering and metal material engineering are school-level brand majors.
Facing the future, the college is determined to improve the comprehensive strength of running a school and the quality of personnel training, and build the college into a first-class material college with certain influence in China.
Teachers and teaching facilities:
In the past five years, the total number of students in the college has increased from 2 146 in 2006 to 20 1 1 to 2,457. 200 of them are graduate students. Faculty 103, including doctoral supervisor 1 1, master supervisor 25, professor 24, associate professor 26, doctor 40 and master 39.
"National Defense Science and Technology Innovation Team" and "Excellent Innovation Team of Provincial Universities" 1 person, National Thousand Talents Program candidate 1 person (Liu Yaqing), 3 experts enjoying special allowance from the State Council (Li Baocheng, Zhang Zhimin and Liu Yaqing), and 2 outstanding talents from the Ministry of Education in the new century (Liu Yaqing and Bai Peikang).
In the new century, there are 2 provincial-level candidates for 333 academic and technical leaders (Liu Yaqing and Bai Peikang), Shanxi Province 1 Top-notch Innovative Talents (Zhang Zhimin), and 6 young academic leaders in Shanxi Province (Liu Yaqing, Hou Hua, Bai Peikang, Zhang Baohong, Wang Qiang and Li Zhiyong).
In 2006, the college introduced 2 doctors and 0/2 masters. In 2007, two masters were introduced; In 2008, 2 doctors were introduced; In 2009, two doctors were introduced; 20 10 introduced three doctors.
Since its establishment, College of Materials Science and Engineering has undertaken a large number of high-level scientific research projects, such as National 863 Project, 973 Project, National Natural Fund Key Project, National Natural Fund Key Project and National Defense Key Project, with an average annual scientific research funding of 10 million yuan.
The scientific research projects undertaken by the institute mainly have the following two characteristics: the institute has contributed to the modernization of national defense equipment and undertaken a large number of military projects; The developed aluminum alloy mobile transmission parts are equipped with chariots for the first time; Shenzhou spaceship adopts magnesium alloy liquid bridge frame; Magnesium alloy walking mechanism is used for lunar rover.
A variety of composite components have been applied to tanks and armored vehicles, and won the military parade award for the 60th anniversary of National Day. The box made by electromagnetic low-pressure casting technology has been used in "new generation" armored vehicles.
Relying on this discipline, the research institute that has made great contributions to Shanxi local economy has established the national magnesium alloy high-performance component testing platform, Shanxi magnesium industry innovation strategic alliance and the first national magnesium industry technology center in China. The developed racing wheel hub has been applied, and the jointly developed profile has been used in high-speed trains. In recent years, the college has undertaken national scientific research projects 14, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects 109 and more than 200 horizontal scientific research projects.
