The original four major financial institutions in China refer to:

Shanghai Finance (hereinafter referred to as Shangcai, directly under the Ministry of Finance),

Northeast Finance and Economics (hereinafter referred to as Cai Dong, directly under the Ministry of Finance),

Southwest Finance (hereinafter referred to as Cai Xi, directly under the People's Bank of China) and Central South Finance (hereinafter referred to as Central South Finance, directly under the Ministry of Finance).

Central Finance and Economics (hereinafter referred to as the central finance, directly under the Ministry of Finance), together with Shangcai, Cai Dong and Zhongnancai, are the four major financial institutions under the Ministry of Finance.

At present, the four major financial institutions under the Ministry of Education refer to the following four financial institutions.

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (formerly Shanghai, Ministry of Finance) is a national key university, which is the innovation platform of "21Project" and "985 Project". 3 national key disciplines (finance, accounting, history of economic thought), 1 national key disciplines (cultivation) (finance).

Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (Wuhan, former Ministry of Finance, national key universities of "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project". 4 national key disciplines (finance, accounting, finance, civil and commercial law), 1 national key disciplines (cultivation) (economic history).

Southwestern University of Finance and Economics {Chengdu, formerly affiliated to the People's Bank of China, is a national key university of "21/project" and "985 project". There are four national key disciplines (finance, political economy, statistics, accounting).

Dongbei University of Finance and Economics {Dalian, former Ministry of Finance, three national key disciplines (finance, accounting, industrial economics), 1 national key disciplines (cultivation) (quantitative economics)}

Central University of Finance and Economics (Beijing, formerly under the Ministry of Finance) is a national key university of "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project". The national key disciplines include the first-class discipline of applied economics (covering 10 two disciplines: national economics, regional economics, finance, finance, industrial economics, international trade, labor economics, statistics, quantitative economics and national defense economics) and two national key disciplines of accounting.
