On June 5, 2000, the Ministry of Education issued the Notice on Agreeing to Rename Zhengzhou Institute of Technology to the provincial government, officially approving the renaming of Zhengzhou Institute of Technology.
In 2004, Zhengzhou Institute of Technology and Zhengzhou Institute of Technology merged and the school name was changed to Henan University of Technology.
