Northeastern University, NEU for short, is a research university of science and engineering directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is located in Shenyang, the central city in the northeast of China. It is the first batch of national key construction universities under the "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project" which are mainly constructed by the Ministry of Education, Liaoning Province and Shenyang City. Northeastern University was founded in April of 1923, from August of 1928 to June of 1937, with the famous patriotic general Zhang Xueliang as its president.
