Students from Peking University were dropped out of prestigious schools, and the master of mathematics named two points. Which of them may be corrected? Qiu Chengtong was born in 1949. At the age of 33, he won the Nobel Prize in Physics, becoming the first mathematician in the history of China to win the Fields Prize. After winning many honorary awards, Qiu Chengtong paid special attention to the education of young students, although he was obsessed with scientific research.

During his teaching at Stanford, Qiu Chengtong experienced many students from China, and many outstanding students from Tsinghua and Peking University. But in Qiu Chengtong's view, those students who think their basic knowledge is excellent have systematic loopholes in their professional knowledge during repeated examinations. There is even a Peking University graduate who was sent a notice of suspension from school after one semester because of his poor exam results.

I used to be proud of my down-to-earth study. In the face of the cruel exam results, Qiu Chengtong realized that the original learning advantages of China students had disappeared. However, the reason behind this is inseparable from the teaching methods of domestic universities. First, when I was an undergraduate, I had only a handful of opportunities to be instructed by experts and professors. Second, there are also many experts and professors who only seek the promotion and evaluation of their professional titles, but during the period of taking students, even the number of students under their own names can reach dozens.

In Qiu Chengtong's view, undergraduates are the key period to learn professional skills and broaden their learning ideas. They only receive ordinary modern education, lacking certain practical skills and professional ability. If they want to compete with the strong market in the same field in the world, the advantage is really not great; However, if this teaching atmosphere is allowed to develop, it will not only hurt independent students, but also lead to the carelessness of the mainstay of outstanding talents, which will make China's high technology go backwards for at least 20 years.

Recently, however, Minister of Education Yanwu revealed that if undergraduate graduates are not taught the title of expert professor or associate professor for more than three years, the teaching staff will be cleaned up.

This news is tantamount to a great development of basic education reform, which can not only effectively prevent the phenomenon of "emphasizing scientific research over classroom teaching", but also make college students pay more attention to teaching and learning and reduce many problems such as "weak foundation and lax study".

As early as March this year, an article in People's Daily entitled "Sleeping College Students: If you don't lose your job, God forbid" caught the most obvious problem of college students at present. We lost the initiative of learning and even gave up the sense of crisis in the past. College students wasting their youth like that is tantamount to consuming teaching resources and irresponsible to themselves.

However, qualified college students, not pursuing high scores, will only let them learn to sharpen their knives before the exam, ignoring their daily teaching and learning. Therefore, Yanwu, Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China, also revealed another message, which will raise the requirements for college students to graduate: if students want to graduate from college, the course content is difficult, and they can't go into the safe as soon as they enter school, and students who don't study hard can't graduate!

These two pieces of information are no different from Mr. Qiu Chengtong's confused and most useful answers and their countermeasures in the past. Only when every student puts all his energy into it can he be admitted to the university. He just indulged himself in the status quo, not in progress. It's not just that personal promotion can't be promoted, but progress in all times can only be very difficult. Starting from every student, from every improvement of standards, let students play more development potential and create more use value.
