On the Relationship between Design and Art
As for me from primary school, I sketch still life, head portrait and color sketch all day, and occasionally go out to sketch. It seems that I am dealing with art every day, but for me, art is the most familiar stranger, accompanied by it every day, but I also lack understanding.
Regarding "design", the earliest appraisal contact lies in the eve of the college entrance examination for fine arts. Whether to choose to develop into a pure art major or a design major, these were the two paths before us at that time. As a young and ignorant person who has been studying painting for a long time, I have always regarded art as my life. I have always thought that people who engage in pure art are deviant and fully functional artists, and design seems to be one of deviant and half-baked things. Of course, it finally proved how naive my thoughts were at that time. At this time, I have a preliminary understanding of the relationship between art and design. At this time, I have understood that art includes design. Art is a big category, design is a branch, and another is that art is the basis of design.
After entering the university, I learned two courses, Introduction to Art and Introduction to Design, through continuous understanding. Have a deeper understanding of art and design, and have a deeper understanding of the relationship between them.

First of all, I still keep my previous view that art includes design, which belongs to the category of art. Furthermore, art is the foundation and bearing of design, and design is closely related to art. Before we set foot in the design industry, we always have to go through a lot of training and learning in modeling and color to enhance our aesthetics and master the laws of beauty. This is why every university's design major is called "design art major", and the design art major always offers training courses in modeling and color before and during design teaching. The Academy of Fine Arts put the first-year students majoring in design and the students majoring in pure art into the basic department, laying a solid artistic foundation, which shows that the design major attaches importance to the artistic foundation. However, in recent years, due to the vigorous development of China's economy, people's food, clothing, housing and transportation are inseparable from artistic design, which has a great demand for design talents and a broad design market. There are some design software training institutions in the society, which recruit some students without art foundation, conduct short-term professional software and related skills training, and then engage in design work. Although the software technology is very skilled, proficient in all kinds of design computer software and various superficial abilities, the aesthetic can not be improved overnight. So I think these people can only be called "design practitioners", but not "designers" and their design results are extremely cheap, so they can only get more benefits by quantity and become manual workers. China's economic development is inseparable from the progress of design, but it is obviously unrealistic to rely on this part of employees to promote the progress of design. On the other hand, it also puts great pressure on undergraduates majoring in art design. If they don't work hard to strengthen their professional basic training and improve their artistic quality and aesthetics, they will enter the society in the future and compete with designers with short training time, and there is no advantage at all. Some design students throw away the pure art they studied before entering university, or have not laid a good foundation before, but concentrate on various software schools and learn various technologies, and spend four years learning these superficial things to compete with the design practitioners who have been trained for three and a half months, which is worse than people. So what we need more is to cultivate our artistic accomplishment, improve our professional quality, guide our actions with thoughts and solve problems with consciousness. And a person with a high understanding of art and a solid foundation in modeling and color will definitely get twice the result with half the effort in the future. It is gratifying that we can see that designers who have received short-term training will take the initiative to learn pure art after entering the work, and more want to get inspiration from art and add color to their design works, which can also be seen from it. As the foundation and bearing of design, art is very important for design.
Finally, design is the expression and practice of art, and design art is inseparable from people's daily life, ranging from the shape of a button to the layout of the whole city. Design art is everywhere, and design is a means to directly bring art into people's lives and improve the quality of life. Some people say that art comes from life, but it is too life-oriented, and I think design is to pull art down from the unattainable palace and integrate it into people's lives. If practice is the only criterion for testing truth, then I think design is one of the criteria for testing art.
