Sampling test of common vocabulary in modern Chinese
In order to test whether the common words selected from the list of common words are reasonable, we entrust the Computer Department of Shanxi University to make statistics on the corpus of 2 million words by computer sampling, and to detect the frequency of use of the selected common words.

Sampling materials include:

1. People's Daily in July 1987 (excluding illustrations, advertisements, titles and non-Chinese symbols, it is 6.5438+0.5 million words);

6.5438+July 0987 Beijing Science and Technology News (excluding illustrations, advertisements, headlines and non-Chinese symbols, 200,000 words);

3. 1987 Contemporary Phase III (excluding illustrations, titles and non-Chinese symbols, 300,000 words).

The test results show that the coverage rate of 2,500 commonly used words is 97.97%, that of 1 0,000 commonly used words is 1.5 1%, and that the total coverage rate (3,500 words) is 99.48%, which shows that the Modern Chinese Common Words List is practical.
