Highlight: With the coming of the school season, the university campus has come back to life. The author has been engaged in the education and management of college students for many years, and has deep feelings about the recent public relations crisis in higher vocational colleges caused by sleep check-ups. Try to analyze it from the perspective of insiders. I hope to inspire some new ideas and attract more rational attention.
Recently, there have been endless bad news from all over the internet, and the sudden major traffic accidents on weekends are simply worse. As a witness who has been engaged in student education management in colleges and universities in the province for a long time, I am particularly concerned about the "sleeping girl incident" in a vocational college. Since last week, the impact has not diminished. Besides indignation, shame and disappointment, I also feel a sense of sadness.
At present, the number of students in higher vocational colleges is conservatively estimated to account for 30% to 40% of the total number of college students in China, and it is on the rise with the expansion of higher vocational colleges. This is the present situation of higher education and the national conditions that parents and candidates must face. Therefore, although this "Sister Xue's sleeping incident" is accidental and extreme, it is very representative and has a wide range of injuries.
The incident itself and the cause of the uproar must be well known, so I won't go into details and make comments. Here, I just want to reveal the ins and outs of sleep examination from the perspective of college students' self-management, and then clarify some misunderstandings to the public and let the debate return to a rational track. Of course, telling others yourself makes no difference. If you happen to see it and are interested in it, please enjoy it and I will show it slowly.
Sleep inspection, the general full name should be "safety and health inspection of student dormitory", which is a part of college students' education management service. We have always included it in the category of campus management because the conflicts and confrontations between its organizers (relevant management departments), implementers (political teachers and student cadres) and the inspected objects (students and dormitories) are naturally formed, and the focus of the contradictions is on "management". Who knows, with the deepening and optimization of ideological and political ideas, with the standardization and humanization of supervision behavior, temporary and daily sleep check-ups in colleges and universities have all-round functions of student education and management services. In the process of inspection and implementation, exhortation is ideological education, restraint is behavior management, and guidance is life service.
Let's talk about the necessity of sleeping first. Most children lack collective life experience and independent life experience before going to college. In addition to active and passive learning exchanges and participation in activities, dormitory is the main residence of students during school. Whether it is the basic requirement of maintaining safety and health, or the higher goal of cultivating sentiment and body and mind, colleges and universities should and must stick to the ideological and political work position in dormitories and pay attention to the cultivation of virtues in daily life. The form of investigation can be eclectic, tailored for the school, advocating autonomy and encouraging innovation.
There are children at home, and everyone wants their children to live and grow freely. However, without rules, there would be no Fiona Fang, and the brutal competition in the future workplace is even more inevitable. Today, the requirements of all walks of life for the quality and ability of human resources are not only reflected in the professional level, but also comprehensively consider your self-control and self-discipline and other indicators. Nowadays, college students generally have some problems, such as too arrogant personality, too heavy self-emotion, a little poor sense of rules and poor self-control ability. Therefore, it is understandable and necessary to carry out proper supervision and control from the details of daily behavior and life.
Generally speaking, combined with the characteristics of students at different educational levels, some private and higher vocational colleges have higher frequency and greater intensity of bed inspection, and the disputes and conflicts caused are also obvious. This is also one of the historical roots of the boring topics such as "academic contempt" and "academic discrimination" against higher vocational colleges and students after the exposure of the "Sister Sleeping Test Incident". As far as I am concerned, a series of student management behaviors in higher vocational colleges, including bed checking, are strict and meticulous, and there are no deviations or mistakes in themselves. At best, you say it is simple and extensive, and you have no right to question the merits and demerits. Of course, the method and objective effect are another matter.
The above is a long talk about the reasons before going to bed. Let's talk about the mixed consequences by combining some elements of the incident and my real feelings. Specifically, the following consequences include but are not limited to the event itself.
Senior sister's behavior is outrageous. Aside from the specific characters and scenes referred to in the video, the aggressive posture, domineering manner and overbearing remarks in the picture are first horrible, then ridiculous, and finally disgusting. Dress appropriately, wear badges and act collectively, which are the examples and dignity that students' union cadres usually "standard" when performing their duties. That's great. The way that was not out of line was destroyed by the bureaucratic overbearing performance of the senior sisters. Even innocent black suits, badges, group tours and other routine operations have been criticized and are beyond redemption. Over the years, revelations and warnings about "student officials" in colleges and universities have emerged one after another. I dare not speculate, and I don't want to verify whether this phenomenon exists in other universities now. If it happens, if it is caught and exposed, it deserves to make people laugh and be rejected. Nothing to say!
The appearance of corruption is shameful. In addition to anger, we should reflect on why student union cadres are infected with bureaucratic habits and encourage vulgarity. In addition to corrupt ideas and wanton behavior, subordinate departments and instructors are probably also to blame. If the children who join the student union with passion only see the aura, hear the power and talk about the interests, it is not only the sorrow of the students, but also the shame of the teachers. If there is still unknown acquiescence, connivance and protection behind this until asylum, then you will lose face completely and become a teacher in vain.
The response to the crisis was disappointing. Compared with the beginning of this thunder, my disappointment with the perverse behavior and rude behavior of my senior sisters is less painful. On the contrary, after the outbreak of the network crisis, the college's hasty response to the higher authorities, coupled with the indifference of the local media, is the most disappointing and sad. Of course, I admit that the information is limited, the research is not in depth, and the position may not be objective. But up to now, I really haven't seen any special reports or related words that state the facts, clarify the cognition, dare to speak out and give positive guidance in the name of the school or local media, except for the helpless actions such as admitting mistakes and apologizing. I vaguely remember that there is an iron law of communication to the effect that the network crisis will fade automatically after several hours of continuous fermentation. Maybe I worry too much. However, a few hours have passed, but the reality is that condemnation and condemnation are still endless.
The present situation is sad. Since the incident, from the anomie of student union cadres and the oversight of schools to the dishonesty of academic qualifications in higher vocational colleges and the dishonor of university education, all the subjects involved have paraded the streets on the Internet and become notorious. What's more, some "guardians" with ulterior motives actually attacked Zhang Meiyu, the client, and put him into cyber violence, which is really despicable and vicious. It is a reasonable behavior authorized by the school for students to check the bed. If the student union cadres violate the rules and lose their morality in the process of performing their duties, they should also be punished, and the main body of implementation should be colleges and universities. Even if unfortunately exposed to the public, no one has the right to go beyond humanitarian ethics to retaliate. After all, she (they) is also a student, and she (they) is just a child.
A public relations crisis involving checking beds in colleges and universities triggered a complex and far-reaching network storm. Besides indignation, shame and disappointment, I also feel a sense of sadness.
