In summer, the temperature is high and there is much rain, which is easy to breed bacteria and cause bovine diseases.

So how to prevent and cure the common bovine diseases in high temperature season? Let's have a look.

In summer, the temperature is high and there is much rain, which is easy to breed bacteria and cause bovine diseases.

In addition, high temperature and high humidity will increase the body temperature, decrease the appetite and slow down the growth rate of beef cattle, and a series of diseases may occur at the same time. So how to prevent and cure the common bovine diseases in high temperature season? Let's have a look.

1, cattle hoof rot disease

At the beginning of the disease, the skin between the toes is red and swollen, painful, and the toes touch the ground, making it difficult to walk. If both hind hooves are sick, lie down more and stand less to reduce the load on the hooves.

In severe cases, the hoof is suppurated, the tissue is broken, and a foul-smelling black liquid flows out. When the body temperature rises to 40℃, the appetite decreases, the spirit is listless and the milk yield decreases.

Prevention and treatment methods: Soak hooves with 10% copper sulfate solution, trim hooves to remove rotten tissues, then spray 1 0.6 million units of penicillin on the affected area, wrap it with gauze, and change the dressing/kloc-0 once a day, and it will be cured in 5-7 days.

Pay attention to environmental hygiene, clean up the feces in time, and keep the pens clean and dry. Only in this way can cattle recover quickly and avoid reinfection.

2. Cattle diarrhea

There are many reasons for cattle diarrhea, such as gastrointestinal discomfort and fungal poisoning caused by cattle eating moldy forage, and fungal diarrhea occurs; Cattle eat too much grass, which leads to gastrointestinal discomfort and watery diarrhea.

Poor sanitation will breed a large number of pathogenic bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Salmonella. Then these pathogenic bacteria will enter cattle through food, and then bacterial diarrhea will occur.

Prevention and treatment methods: to prevent watery diarrhea, green feed should be gradually increased, and green feed should not be suddenly fed in large quantities. In addition, don't feed all the green and juicy feed in your diet, and add some hay appropriately.

To prevent fungal diarrhea, it is necessary to strengthen the storage of forage. It is forbidden to feed cattle with moldy forage, and the leftovers should be cleaned up in time. In severe cases, drugs such as glucose, vitamin C and inosine should be injected intravenously for symptomatic treatment.

3, cattle heatstroke

Heatstroke is a common disease in cattle in high temperature season. Heatstroke can be divided into heatstroke and heatstroke. Most cows have sudden onset, severe symptoms, extremely difficult breathing, conjunctival flushing or cyanosis, unsteady gait or inability to lie down, sweating, fidgeting, foaming at the mouth, rapid heartbeat, dilated pupils, decreased vision and a sharp rise in body temperature to 4 1~43℃.

Prevention and treatment: move to a cool and ventilated place in time after onset, spray cold water on the head and body continuously or adopt cold water enema, and then drink or take 3000 ml of cold salt water or watermelon juice by yourself to replenish body fluids and relieve the symptoms of heatstroke in cattle.

In severe cases, intravenous bloodletting 1000~2000 ml, intravenous injection of physiological saline 2000~3000 ml, and 10% sodium camphor sulfonate injection 10~20 ml can be used to strengthen the heart.

4. Cattle eye disease

Cattle have conjunctival flushing, congestion, swelling, inflammation, tears, serous or viscous secretions at the initial stage of the disease, and then gradually increase, eyelid swelling, corneal opacity or ulcer, perforation, loss of appetite, elevated body temperature, irritability, shaking his head and wiping his eyes, shyness, and fear of light. In severe cases, one or both sides may be blind.

Prevention and control methods: Keep the cowshed clean, ensure the cowshed dry, remove dirt and properly handle it, do a good job of killing flies, and strengthen feeding management, increase nutrition, protect coweyes and prevent injuries.

After onset, bovine eyes can be washed several times with 2% ~ 3% boric acid aqueous solution or with 0.5% lysol solution.

5. Cow scorch disease

Bovine pyrogenic disease is an insect-borne infectious disease, which is mostly transmitted by ticks. It can happen to beef cattle, cows and buffaloes. May to September is the high incidence season of the disease.

Bovine coke worm is a kind of blood protozoa, which is mainly parasitic in red blood cells of cattle. Its clinical symptoms are high fever, anemia, jaundice, anorexia, rumination stop, lactation stop, severe emaciation and even death.

Prevention and treatment methods: Diphenhydramine, yellow pigment, Acapulin and imidazolamide have good therapeutic effects on zoonosis in cattle. You can choose one of them to treat bovine pyrogen disease and use it in strict accordance with the drug instructions.

The key to prevent zoonosis in cattle is to eliminate ticks that spread diseases. It can be sprayed with cypermethrin solution, fenthion solution or amitraz solution, but it should not be sprayed on the mouth, nose and eyes of cattle to prevent poisoning. In addition, ivermectin and avermectin injected under cowhide also have good control effect on ticks.

There are many cattle diseases in summer. In order to deal with it effectively, we should understand the symptoms and preventive methods of various diseases, and actively do preventive work to prevent the occurrence of common bovine diseases in high temperature season.
