Southwestern University of Finance and Economics School of Accounting has a long history. The former accounting department was founded in 1938, and Shanghai Guanghua University moved to Chengdu during the Anti-Japanese War. Professor Xie Lin, the first registered accountant and famous accountant in China, once presided over this project.

College is one of the earliest institutions in China to offer undergraduate accounting major (1952), and to obtain master's degree in management (accounting) (198 1) and doctor's degree in accounting (1996) earlier, and also to offer master's degree in accounting (mpacc) (6546).

The college has a complete discipline setting and talent training system. The college has three majors: accounting, financial management and auditing, covering all levels of undergraduate, master and doctoral degree training, and has a postdoctoral accounting mobile station. The college consists of "three departments, three institutes and three centers", namely accounting department, finance department and audit department; Modern Accounting College, Modern Finance College and Modern Audit College.
