Geely University is an international new comprehensive full-time college approved by Beijing Municipal People's Government and filed by the Ministry of Education. According to the principle of territoriality, the competent authority of Geely University was changed from Beijing Education Commission to Sichuan Education Department.

In July 2020, Geely University stopped enrolling higher vocational (junior college) majors.
