The Eighth School of Architecture is Tsinghua University, Southeast University, Tianjin University, Tongji University, Harbin Jianzhu University (merged into Harbin Institute of Technology), South China University of Technology, chongqing jianzhu university (merged into Chongqing University) and Xi 'an Institute of Metallurgy and Architecture (renamed as Xi University of Architecture and Technology).

The eight new schools of architecture are Zhejiang University, Hunan University, shenyang jianzhu university, Dalian University of Technology, Shenzhen University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Nanjing University.

Architecture in a broad sense is the study of architecture and its environment. In general, according to its original meaning as a foreign word (spread from Europe to Japan and then to China), it refers to the synthesis of art and technology related to architectural design and construction. Therefore, architecture is a discipline that spans engineering technology and humanities.

In a narrow sense, it studies the usable space and image of architecture and a series of problems around how to establish, adjust and beautify the space and image. In fact, as a special word, the research object of "architecture" is not only the architecture itself, but also people's requirements for architecture and how to meet these requirements, as well as the corresponding planning, design and implementation in the process of building entities from scratch.
