The "985 Project" is a construction project implemented by the China Municipal Government to build a number of world-class universities and a number of internationally renowned high-level research universities.

The "985 Engineering Superiority Discipline Innovation Platform Project" is oriented to the key areas and major demands urgently needed by the development of the country and the industry, focusing on the national science and technology development strategy and the frontier of disciplines, intensifying the adjustment of discipline structure, promoting interdisciplinary, vigorously improving the scientific and technological innovation ability of construction disciplines, and solving major bottlenecks restricting economic and social development.

"2 1 1 project" is the challenge of the world's new technological revolution. Facing the 2 1 century, the government of China should concentrate the strength of the central and local governments and build about 100 institutions of higher learning and a number of key disciplines by stages.
