First, American architecture major
There are basically three types of architecture schools:
Comprehensive colleges, professional colleges, and art colleges.
Comprehensive colleges include public and private institutions, such as Harvard University and Princeton University. Generally, the campus is large, the campus atmosphere is active, there are many interdisciplinary exchanges, and the architecture major is also practical.
Art colleges, such as Rhode Island School of Design, are all art students with strong artistic atmosphere, which is equivalent to the architecture department of domestic art colleges. Schools are basically private, and tuition fees are relatively high.
Professional colleges, such as Southern California Institute of Architecture, only have architecture-related majors, so the academic atmosphere will be more professional.
Second, the British architectural design major
Royal Institute of Architects
RIBA is the abbreviation of royal institute of british architects, namely royal institute of british architects. Association * * * has three-level certification, RIBA Part 1 belongs to the first-level certification, and RIBA runs through different stages of architectural education and practice.
Undergraduate academic system
In Britain, generally three-year architecture graduates can get a bachelor's degree in architecture, and the architecture degree awarded by RIBA can be exempted from qualification certificate, and automatically get the license grade certification after graduation, and can also get the qualification certification of RIBA Part 1.
At present, royal institute of british architects's accredited universities include Bath, Cardiff, Dundee, Edinburgh and Nottingham.
Postgraduate academic system
After two years of master's degree in architecture, students can get the qualification certification of RIBA Part2 after one year of internship. After work, they can meet certain conditions. Generally, they can only get the qualification certification of RIBA Part3 after working for 1-2 years (specifically according to the qualification certification requirements of RIBA Part3), which is equivalent to our registered architect.
In Britain, some masters of architecture need to have the first-class certification of RIBA. The general admission standard is: IELTS 6.0-7.0, above 80%. Submit the corresponding architecture combination and check whether RIBA level 1 certification is required.
