PETS has an oral exam, but CET doesn't. PETS sets up questions according to the actual needs of communicative competence inspection at all levels, mainly including: objective questions-multiple choices, selection and matching; Semi-objective test questions-correcting mistakes, filling in the blanks, and simply summarizing; Subjective questions-thesis writing, translation, oral examination.

3. Recognition from society.
As PETS was introduced by the Ministry of Education, its authority is beyond doubt. Moreover, the Ministry of Education is vigorously promoting this kind of examination, making it the only standard for all employers in China to measure the English level of English professionals. PETS Band 3 is roughly equivalent to CET-4, PETS Band 4 is roughly equivalent to CET-6, and PETS Band 5 standard is equivalent to the level at the end of the second year of English major in China.
Generally speaking, the main target of CET-4 is undergraduates or postgraduates who have completed CET-4 according to the syllabus. A large number of statistical data and experimental materials prove that CET-4 and CET-6 not only have high reliability, but also have high validity, which meets the quality requirements of large-scale standardized examinations and can reflect the English level of college students in China according to the requirements of the syllabus, thus effectively promoting the implementation of college English syllabus and promoting the overall improvement of college English teaching level in China.
At present, the social recognition of CET-4 and CET-6 is still relatively high. Some enterprises will require CET-4 and CET-6 when recruiting, or they will have CET-4 and CET-6 scores on their job application forms.
