Professor Chen Yunqian made great achievements in academic research of history before his death, mainly engaged in the study of China's modern history, and made great achievements in historical memory, urban space, gender research and so on. He was also one of the earliest scholars in China who advocated and practiced the history of new culture.
Professor Chen Yunqian's masterpiece is "Worship and Memory: the Construction and Dissemination of Sun Yat-sen's Symbols" (Nanjing University Press, 2009), with about 600,000 words, rigorous writing, novel perspective and ingenious conception. This paper probes into the construction and spread of Sun Yat-sen's symbol and the formation and development of Sun Yat-sen's worship from different aspects, so as to study the pluralistic and complex relationship between elite and people, country and society in the Republic of China.
