The predecessor of Henan Polytechnic University
Henan Polytechnic University was formerly known as Jiaozuo Road and Mine School.

1909, Henan Polytechnic University (hereinafter referred to as "Henan Polytechnic") was born in Jiaozuo, on the bank of the Yellow River and the sun of Taihang Mountain, becoming the first mining institution of higher learning in China and the earliest institution of higher learning in Henan Province.

The school has gone through important historical periods such as the affiliated middle school mining university, private Jiaozuo Institute of Technology, National Northwest Institute of Technology, National Jiaozuo Institute of Technology, Jiaozuo Institute of Mining (hereinafter referred to as "Jiaozuo Institute of Technology") and Jiaozuo Institute of Technology (hereinafter referred to as "Jiaogong"). In 2004, it was renamed Henan Polytechnic University, which was jointly established by the central and local governments and mainly managed by local governments.

The People's Government of Henan Province and the former State Administration of Work Safety established colleges and universities, which were selected as the national "Basic Capacity Building Project for Colleges and Universities in the Midwest".

The school always adheres to the socialist direction of running a school, and strives to broaden the fields of disciplines and specialties, expand the scale of running a school, and improve the level of running a school. Now it has developed into a high-level university with the right to award doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees, and is committed to cultivating new people of the times who have a sense of social responsibility, broaden their horizons, innovative spirit and practical ability and can shoulder the heavy responsibility of national rejuvenation.

It has three libraries and two affiliated hospitals; The 10 Gigabit campus network has achieved full wireless coverage, built smart campus infrastructure such as cloud platform, information portal, one-stop service hall and high-performance computing platform, won the title of "Advanced Unit of Higher Education Informatization" by the Ministry of Education, and was selected as "Pilot University of Smart Campus Construction" in Henan Province.
