Anhui University of Technology (AHPU) is located in Wuhu City, Anhui Province. It is a provincial multi-disciplinary institution of higher learning and a key construction institution in Anhui Province. It is the first batch of pilot colleges for comprehensive reform of universities in Anhui Province, the first batch of pilot colleges for comprehensive innovation reform of central and western universities, the pilot unit for independent innovation reform of experimental universities in Anhui Province, the governing unit of China Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of UNESCO, the member unit of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Branch of Higher Education Society of the Ministry of Education, and the member unit of China University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance, and has been selected into the first batch of outstanding agricultural and forestry talents education and training programs, the national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program, and the national new engineering research and practice project.

The history of the school began in 1935, when Anhui Private Interior Senior Technical School was established. It was renamed as Anhui Engineering University in 20 10 after the school-running stages of Wuhu Motor Manufacturing School (formerly under the Ministry of Machinery Industry), Wuhu Machinery School, Anhui Electromechanical Vocational and Technical College and Anhui Engineering Vocational and Technical College.
