Language College of Xinjiang Normal University was established in July 2009. Its predecessor, Chinese Department, is one of the earliest teaching departments in the school with a history of more than 30 years. The college consists of three departments: Chinese Department, Preparatory Department and Adult Education Center, and offers two undergraduate majors: Chinese and Uyghur. There are three master's programs in China minority languages and literature (by language family), curriculum and teaching theory, and master's degree in Chinese teaching and education. Among them, the master program of minority languages and literature in China is one of the first six approved by Xinjiang Normal University. 1995, the master program began to recruit master students in bilingual education and bilingual teaching.
