China Communication University, referred to as "Nakagawa", is located in the capital Beijing. It is a key construction university under the national "2 1 1 Project" directly under the Ministry of Education and a key construction university under the "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" project. Its predecessor was the training course for technicians of the Central Broadcasting Bureau, which was founded in 1954. It is the birthplace of higher education of radio and television engineering in China. 1April, 959, with the approval of the State Council, the school was upgraded to Beijing Broadcasting Institute. In August, 2004, Beijing Broadcasting Institute was renamed China Communication University.
China Communication University has given full play to its disciplinary characteristics and comprehensive advantages in the field of media, and has formed a disciplinary system with news communication, art, information and communication engineering as the leader, and the disciplines of arts, engineering, art, management, economics, law and science have developed in a coordinated way and infiltrated each other.
The school is committed to cultivating high-level talents and scientific research in the fields of information dissemination such as broadcasting, television, movies, Internet, publishing, newspapers and new media. There are 7 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 35 two disciplines doctoral degree authorization points, 18 first-class discipline master degree authorization points, 95 two disciplines master degree authorization points, 8 professional master degree categories and 7 post-doctoral research stations.
There are 2008 faculty members and nearly 14000 full-time students, including more than 9000 full-time undergraduates and more than 4000 doctoral and master students. More than 10000 students participated in continuing education.
