Baoshan College is a full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. It is located in Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, and implements a provincial-based management system. The history of Baoshan College can be traced back to Yongchang Normal School, founded in 1905, and Baoshan Normal College, founded in 1978, is one of the earliest four normal colleges in Yunnan Province.
Approved by the Ministry of Education in April 2009, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college, which was organized by the People's Government of Yunnan Province. In April 2023, official website showed that the school had signed 12 1 cooperation agreements with the government, academic institutions, enterprises and institutions in the fields of industrial development, education and tourism culture promotion. Signed counterpart assistance agreements with universities inside and outside the province such as Xi Jiaotong University, capital university of economics and business, Shanghai Electric Power University and Yunnan University.
The school signed strategic cooperation agreements with 16 universities in the United States, South Korea, India, Thailand, Myanmar, Madagascar and Taiwan Province Province of China, and jointly established the China-Africa Jewelry Industry Research Center with Tuliara University in Madagascar and Siam University in Thailand, and reached an agreement with the Myanmar Jewellery Association to run a school in Myanmar to train gem professionals for Myanmar.
