Postgraduates majoring in electrical engineering in Northeast Li Dian University are not easy to take the exam. The school adheres to personnel training, scientific research, social service, cultural inheritance and innovation, actively adapts to the needs of the national electric power industry and economic construction in Jilin Province, and has formed a relatively complete discipline system with electric power characteristics as the mainstay and multidisciplinary integration.

The school is an authorized unit of doctoral degree, with three first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degree, including electrical engineering, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, and control science and engineering, and two postdoctoral mobile stations.

The school has carried out various forms of scientific and academic exchanges with universities or research institutions in the United States, Japan, Britain, Russia, South Korea, Germany and other countries. 1998 was approved to train foreign students. In 2000, the the State Council Academic Degree Office approved the cooperation between the university and Utah State University to organize the undergraduate education program of international economy and trade.
