The running script above the school emblem is the font of the late Zhaotong master of Chinese studies, Mr. Jiang Liangfu.

The school emblem is round, adopting the artistic deformation of the initials Z and T of Zhaotong College, and organically integrating elements such as "flying birds", "pages open" and "sailing".

The classic blue represents the vast ocean, and the circular symbols are endless, which contains the school motto: universities have no borders and adults are tolerant.

"Bird" symbolizes the phoenix's nirvana, flying high, pioneering and innovating, and the future of Wan Li.

The history of Zhaotong Academy can be traced back to 1906, which was founded by the Qing government and passed through the Second Provincial Normal School and Zhaotong Local Normal School.

Zhaotong Teachers College was established in 1978, which is one of the earliest universities in China after the Cultural Revolution, and the cities in Yunnan Province were established earlier.

1993, the school was named Zhaotong Teachers College, referred to as Zhaotong Teachers College.

In August, 2000, with the approval of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, Zhaotong Normal College and Zhaotong Normal School (formerly Zhaotong Education College and Zhaotong Regional Normal School) merged to form a new Zhaotong Normal College.

On March 20 12, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to an undergraduate college and named Zhaotong College.

On June 28th, 20 13, Zhaotong College was officially inaugurated, becoming the first ordinary university at the undergraduate level in Zhaotong.
