The Institute of Molecular Science of Shanxi University was established in September 1983. Life science and materials science are the main research directions. With large-scale instruments including 300MHz superconducting nuclear magnetic analyzer, CCD single crystal diffractometer, patch clamp, CO2 supercritical extraction and other equipment, it has become a basic research base for scientific research and personnel training. It has been rated as the key research institute and key laboratory of Shanxi Province and the key discipline of basic research in Shanxi Province by the provincial science and technology commission 1999. In 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the key laboratory of chemical biology and molecular engineering was jointly established with the Institute of Biotechnology of Shanxi University. The main direction of the research is to study the relationship between the structure, properties and functions of substances at the molecular and quantum levels, grasp the laws and mechanisms of substance changes, and provide basis for the preparation and synthesis of new materials and drugs; And use new technologies such as chemical synthesis and bioengineering to open up new production channels such as medicine, food, materials and chemicals to meet the growing production and living needs of contemporary mankind.
