Abstract: No matter from the management system or the way of running a school, the four educational modes of continuing education, adult education, vocational education and distance education in China coexist independently. Based on the analysis of relevant policy documents, this paper holds that continuing education and adult education, vocational education and distance education overlap and contain each other. This educational model of repeated resource construction is not conducive to the development of lifelong education system in China. To reconstruct China's lifelong education system, we must take continuing education as the leading factor, vocational education as the main content, adults as the object of education and distance education as the development direction, change the current learning access system of continuing education, and position continuing education as universal education.
