Before the merger, the four universities each undertook the task of running adult education. Among them, the former Hunan Institute of Education and the former College of Political and Legal Management Cadres are independent adult colleges with adult education as the main body. The original adult education of Hunan Normal University was founded in 1956, and has gone through the stages of establishment, suspension, recovery and development. It has successively held various forms of running schools such as correspondence, evening classes, self-study exams, tripartite exchanges and non-academic training, and opened more than 90 majors. Before the merger in 2000, * * * trained more than 3 1000 undergraduate and junior college graduates for the country.
The former Hunan Institute of Education was founded in 1980. 1984, approved by the Ministry of Education, was listed as the first batch of provincial education colleges in China. Its main function is to recruit in-service middle school teachers who have graduated from junior college, have more than three years of teaching experience and are under the age of 35, and receive off-the-job training for two years or correspondence training for three years to achieve undergraduate graduation. At the same time, there are plans to train the main education administrative cadres of provincial (city) and county education bureaus and complete middle schools in stages. Before the merger in 2000, a total of 63 196 undergraduate and junior college graduates were trained, and in-service middle school teachers and educational administrative cadres were trained for a short time 10886.
The former College of Political and Legal Management Cadres was established in 1984, mainly to train and train political and legal management cadres in the whole province. Before the merger of 200 1, more than 30,000 graduates had been sent to the courts, procuratorates, public security, judicial and party and government departments in the province, and more than 40 training courses for legal cadres had been held.
Adult education in Hunan Medical College started from 1979, and mainly held short-term on-the-job professional training. It is an on-the-job training base for professional and technical personnel designated by the Health Department of Hunan Province. Adult education started at 1985, and mainly offered medical specialties. By the time of merger in 2002, * * * had trained more than 6,000 adult graduates and more than 3,000 medical professionals and technicians.
At the beginning of its establishment, the College of Continuing Education worked in Taohuaping Campus (formerly Hunan Education College), moved to Zhanggongling Campus in 2004, and moved to Chengjiao Building in Xianjiahu Campus in July 2007.
