Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, founded in 1558, is one of the oldest German universities. In memory of the famous German poet Schiller, the University of Jena was renamed Friedrich Schiller University on 1934.
The University of Jena is located in Jena (Thuringia), which is known as the "City of Optics", and the famous Carl Zeiss Optical Company is located here.
