On the eve of liberation, Hunan University of Science and Technology was founded in Xiangbei Institute of Architecture. In 2003, it was formed by the merger of Xiangtan Institute of Technology and Xiangtan Teachers College. It was established by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and was established by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the former state administration of work safety.
