According to relevant data, there are 44 faculty members in the School of Social Development, including 40 full-time teachers and several part-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 13 professors, 9 associate professors and 18 lecturers, including 38 teachers with doctoral degrees and 35 overseas scholars or visiting scholars. There are 17 people who hold academic positions at or above the director level in the national and Shanghai societies. Shanghai Sociological Society Urban Sociology Committee and Foreign Sociology Committee are also affiliated to the School of Social Development.

Since 1999, the college has introduced more than 20 doctors from famous universities such as the United States, Canada, France, Australia, Japan, China and Hongkong, enriching the teaching and research teams of sociology, demography, anthropology, folklore and social work, and further strengthening the contact with practical application departments. According to incomplete statistics, the full-time teachers of Social Development College have published more than 0/00 kinds of books and teaching materials, and presided over more than 50 scientific research projects (including national social science fund projects and international cooperation projects). There are 30 scientific research achievement awards.

The main school-level academic research institutions under the School of Social Development are: Sociology Research Center, Sociology Research Institute, Modern Urban Social Research Center, Social Investigation Center, Youth and Social Work Research Center, Community Culture Research Center, Religion and Social Research Center, and the Joint Research Center of Folklore, Society and Culture of Inner Mongolia University of East China Normal University. In addition, some teachers of the School of Social Development are the main members of China Modern City Research Center of East China Normal University, the key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education. School of Social Development sent teachers to study and visit famous overseas universities, and maintained good cooperation and exchange relations with famous universities in the United States, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, Hongkong, Taiwan Province Province and other regions.
