The school has set up three basic science classes: Chinese class, physical science class and Zhang chemistry elite class, focusing on cultivating elite talents in basic research and applied research of mathematics, physics and chemistry. Students enjoy the school's special training policy, and the proportion of recommended non-graduate students is not less than 50%.

"Huaban" relies on Dalian University of Technology's "National Training Base for Basic Science Research and Teaching Talents" and selects students majoring in "Mathematics". Relying on the national key discipline of "Plasma Physics" of Dalian University of Technology, "Wang Daheng Physics Science Class" enrolls students independently and adopts a new mechanism for cultivating innovative talents. Relying on the State Key Laboratory of Fine Chemical Industry of Dalian University of Technology, "Zhang Chemical Industry Elite Class" enrolls students independently, breaks through the boundary of "master's degree and master's degree" training, establishes a new mechanism for cultivating innovative talents through eight years' training, and meets the training plan requirements of all-staff learning (master's degree and master's degree).
