Freshmen who can't enter the school on schedule due to physical and mental reasons (diagnosed by a hospital at or above the second level, re-examined by the school hospital) or other special reasons need to submit a written application to the school admissions and employment office within two weeks after the prescribed registration date, and can retain their admission qualification for one year after being examined and approved by the school.

When applying for retaining the admission qualification, the freshmen enlisted in the army must implement the spirit of the document "Measures for Retaining the Admission Qualification of Freshmen Enlisted in the Army and Admission after Retirement (Trial)" and come to the school to handle the follow-up matters within two weeks after the date of registration. The letter of introduction is headed as "Organization Department of the Party Committee of Jiangnan University", and the transfer unit is the party organization of the admission institution. After entering the school, report to the college party organization and go through the formalities.
