Ningxia University (NXU for short) is located at No.489, Helanshan West Road, Xixia District, Yinchuan City, Ningxia. It is a university jointly founded by the people of China, the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is a national "double first-class" construction university, a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university, and a national "comprehensive strength of central and western universities" university.

Ningxia University, formerly known as Ningxia Normal University and Ningxia Agricultural College, was founded in September 1958. 1962, Ningxia Normal University, Ningxia Agricultural College and Ningxia Medical College merged to form Ningxia University. 65438-0997 Ningxia University merged with Ningxia Institute of Technology and Yinchuan Normal University to form a new Ningxia University. In 2002, Ningxia University and Ningxia Agricultural College merged to form a new Ningxia University.

As of September, 20021year, the school has 2690 teaching and administrative staff, including full-time teachers 1429 and 70 external teachers. Among the full-time teachers, National Outstanding Youth Fund winner 1 person, national famous teacher 1 person, national "Ten Thousand Talents Program" project leader 1 person, scientific and technological innovation leader 1 person, and two leading talents in philosophy and social sciences.

It has national specialties such as biological science (normal education), agronomy (plant production), grassland science, biological science, Chinese language and literature, English language and literature, food science and engineering, mechanical engineering, basic chemistry experiment center of national experimental teaching demonstration center, national excellent course grassland science, and national bilingual teaching demonstration course molecular biology.
