Guangxi University of Science and Technology, located in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is an authorized unit for bachelor's and master's degrees approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, a pilot university of "Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program" and a selected university of "New Engineering Research and Practice Project".

Directly under the management of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, it is a multidisciplinary institution of higher learning focusing on engineering, management, science, economics, literature, law, art, teaching and medicine. In 20 13, with the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee of the autonomous region, the school became the construction unit of the doctoral degree awarding project.

The school was approved by the Ministry of Education on April 20 18, 2003, and was formed by the merger of the former Guangxi Institute of Technology and the former Liuzhou Medical College. Guangxi Institute of Technology was founded in 1958, merged with Guangxi Institute of Light Industry, Guangxi Institute of Mechanical Industry and Guangxi Institute of Petrochemical Technology in 1982, and moved from Nanning to Liuzhou in 1985. Liuzhou Medical College was founded in 195 1 and named as "Guangxi Fourth Medical College". Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2003, it was upgraded to Liuzhou Medical College.
