Xi University of Technology was founded in 1955.

General situation and historical evolution of the school: Xi University of Technology was founded in 1955, which is a military supporting project of the first five-year plan 156. It is the only institution in Northwest China with a complete master's and doctoral training level, and it is also the station setting unit of postdoctoral research mobile station.

This school is a member of the Seventh National Army and one of the sponsors of B8 Collaborative Innovation Alliance (hereinafter referred to as "China Weapons Collaborative Innovation Alliance"). The school is a key high-level university in Shaanxi Province. It is a university jointly founded by Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, National Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and China Ordnance Industry Group.

Historical evolution of the school: the school was founded in 1955, formerly known as Xi' an No.2 Industrial School, which is a key construction project of the First Five-Year Plan 156. 1960 was upgraded to Xi 'an Instrument Industry Institute. 1965 upgraded to Xi University of Technology. In 2006, the school was renamed Xi University of Technology.
