Jiangnan University originated from Sanjiang Normal College founded by 1902 in Nanjing and private Jiangnan University founded by patriotic industrialist Rong Desheng by 1947 in Wuxi. It's the 7 1 anniversary, 1 17 anniversary. Sanjiang Normal School has evolved into Nanjing University and Southeast University. Private Jiangnan University is the only multi-disciplinary undergraduate university in Wuxi's modern history. 1952 Some departments participated in the merger of Southeast University, Suzhou University, East China University of Science and Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. 1950, private Jiangnan university founded the first food industry department in new China. 1952 Based on the food industry department of private Jiangnan University, Nanjing University, Fudan University, Wuhan University and Zhejiang University were merged to form the food industry department of Nanjing Institute of Technology. 1958, the whole department moved eastward to Wuxi and established Wuxi Institute of Light Industry. 1995 was renamed Wuxi University of Light Industry. 200 1 Wuxi University of Light Industry, Jiangnan College and Wuxi Institute of Education merged to restore the traditional name of Jiangnan University.
