There are three majors in grassland science, Plant Protection and Biological Resources Utilization Technology. Among them, grassland science has four complete grass talents training levels: undergraduate, master, doctoral and postdoctoral. There are China-US Grassland Animal Husbandry Sustainable Development Research Center, Lawn Research Institute, Tianzhu Alpine Grassland Experimental Station, Wuwei Huangyang Town Forage Experimental Station, Lanzhou Forage Introduction Experimental Station, Lanzhou Plant Disease and Pest Prediction Station, Jingtai Forage Industrialization Base, Qinghai Triangle City Sheep Farm Teaching and Research Base, and Lanzhou Chengguan District Wuyishan Afforestation Station Teaching and Research Practice Base. Edit and publish the national academic journal Grassland and Lawn. In 2003, the former Ministry of Plant Protection was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture as the "Certification Unit of Pesticide Registration Field Efficacy Test".
There are 74 faculty members in Grass Industry College, including 2 professors1person, 6 associate professors (associate researchers)1person, and 20 lecturers (experimenters). Academician of China Academy of Engineering 1 person, doctoral supervisor 19 person, master tutor 4 1 person (including off-campus part-time teacher 15 person), winner of teaching and research award for outstanding young teachers of Ministry of Education 1 person, candidate of Hundred Talents Program of China Academy of Sciences 1 person. There are 10 first-class and second-class candidates for "333 Scientific and Technological Talents Project" and "555 Innovative Talents Project" in Gansu Province, 4 provincial excellent experts, 7 experts enjoying special government allowance from the State Council and 6 visiting professors.
There are 1376 students in our college, including 5 doctoral students1person, 0 master students 165 and 0 junior college students 160. It is the largest grassland science talent training base in China and even the world. Strong teaching staff and advanced teaching equipment have trained more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students majoring in grass industry and plant protection all over the country. Among them, 40% and 50% students majoring in grassland science were awarded master's degrees and doctor's degrees respectively. Postgraduates are employed by well-known research institutes and universities such as Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Agricultural University, Beijing Forestry University, Southwest University, Nanjing University, Sun Yat-sen University, Lanzhou University and Sichuan University. 70% of domestic famous lawn entrepreneurs graduated from our college.
The prataculture research institute attaches great importance to scientific research. Since 1950s, several generations of scientific and technical personnel of Academy of Grassland Sciences have insisted on the combination of teaching, scientific research and production, established the comprehensive sequence classification of grassland and artificial grassland with the times, and put forward important scientific theories such as rotational grazing in alpine grassland division, unit index system of animal products for evaluating grassland productivity, seasonal animal husbandry of grassland, grassland ecosystem and system coupling, grass industry being the primary production of agriculture and forestry, and nutritional agriculture. Since the Ninth Five-Year Plan, more than 20 scientific research achievements in our hospital have won awards at or above the provincial and ministerial levels, and new forage varieties such as Gansu sainfoin, Gannong 1 mixed alfalfa, Gannong 2 mixed alfalfa, Gannong 3 alfalfa and Tianlan alfalfa have been cultivated. More than 30 monographs, reference books and teaching materials have been published. At the same time, three achievements won the first prize of Excellent Teaching Achievements in Gansu Province, and 1 won the second prize of National Excellent Teaching Achievements. It has undertaken many major projects and international cooperation projects such as the State Planning Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National Natural Science Foundation of Gansu Province.
The College of Grass Industry has extensively carried out international academic exchanges and cooperative research, and maintained long-term cooperative exchanges with international organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Bank (WB), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), and universities and scientific research institutions in Australia, New Zealand, Britain, Germany, Canada and the United States, and selected young teachers according to the project. The college also often invites Chinese and foreign experts to visit, visit and give lectures, and holds various international and domestic seminars and training courses.
