Wenzhou University, referred to as "Wenda", is located in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is a key construction university in Zhejiang Province. It has been selected into the pilot universities of the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of new engineering research and practice projects of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of national universities with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, and the first batch of national demonstration universities to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education.

Wenzhou Teachers College (founded in 1956) and former Wenzhou University (founded in 1984) were merged and formed in 2004. After the evolution of "the merger of two schools and the integration of seven schools", the school can be traced back to Wenzhou Normal School in Zhejiang Province as early as 1933.
