-What do I think of universities?

I have always believed in the assertion that "education is the soul of a nation" in high school textbooks. Of course, education is not limited to school education, but also includes family education, social education and environmental education. As far as school education is concerned, university education has a unique and important position. Obviously, the university is a conveyor belt to transport high-quality labor, and it is the link between theory and practice, campus and society. After leaving the campus, college students become a member of social producers. Therefore, universities play an extremely important role. We can infer the trend of the whole society from the quality of students trained by universities. To some extent, the students trained by universities are intellectuals, and intellectuals are the backbone of society. As far as my personal point of view is concerned, the students trained by universities should have the following characteristics: humanity, that is, morality, quality, good interpersonal relations and expression skills; Have a sense of social responsibility and pay attention to society; Have your own thoughts and judgments; At least one professional skill, which can provide resources and be useful to society; Always stick to your hobbies and have your own dreams.

I want to start with human nature, which I think is the most important point. Because college students are first and foremost a person, as a person, he must have humanity. First of all, students are moral. The category of morality is extremely broad, and I only talk about social morality and professional ethics here. Social morality, or what I call social morality, is extremely important. We are used to the reports that China people scribble, queue up irregularly, spit and litter in tourist attractions at home and abroad, which undoubtedly reflects the lack of citizens' quality and disrespect for public space. Some people may refute me that many people who basically don't obey the order are people with low education, especially local tyrants. Then I can give him an example. On the Guangzhou subway, many times, as soon as the underground iron gate is opened, passengers in white-collar office buildings go up and down, completely abandoning the rule of "going up first and then down". Closer, as far as our school is concerned, let's see how many freshmen don't know how to line up in order in front of the elevator in the first class hall in the dining hall. As soon as the elevator door opened, I rushed in impulsively without saying thank you, and so on. Our university education should start here. Teach college students how to abide by social morality, social order and public space. Now "help or not" has become a problem, which in my opinion is a satire on China's traditional virtues. How should college students make judgments? Isn't that what college education should guide? Professional ethics is more obvious. Crime with high IQ is no longer a strange term, and officials abuse power for personal gain and corruption are also well known. Besides morality, learning how to get along with others, how to express yourself and how to adjust one's emotions is also a compulsory course. In the media reports, it is no longer news that college students wield knives at their dormitory classmates, and it is not uncommon for them to end their lives easily because they cannot adjust themselves. Full of knowledge but unable to express, shyness and generosity are also problems. These are all aspects that universities should consider. How to improve students' moral awareness and quality through some channels, and how to improve students' communication and expression ability are the aspects that every university must think about.

Secondly, care about society, have a sense of social responsibility, and form your own thoughts and judgments in it. I am extremely disgusted with the practice of "not listening to things outside the window, but reading books by sages". What is the difference between this and isolation? If college students don't care about people's livelihood, current politics, economy and culture, then this society will be finished. College students have received a relatively high level of education and come into contact with more things. Generally speaking, their knowledge and vision will be wider than those without education, so they have more obligations and responsibilities to pay attention to society, analyze problems and provide suggestions for decision makers and legislators. Of course, when analyzing and judging social phenomena, we should have our own independent thinking and form our own thoughts and values, and we should not follow suit. This is what schools need to guide students to do. It is not difficult for us to get some inspiration from the "Occupy Central" universal suffrage parade in Hong Kong that has been raging since the end of September. Apart from other things, I am awed by Hong Kong students' concern for society and their pursuit of democracy and freedom. They were very concerned and took action. Maybe we can't express our feelings through demonstrations like Hong Kong students, but at least, we should express our concern and do something within our power. Look at the college students in the Republic of China, that is the model of social responsibility that college students should have! Moreover, it is also very important to have certain skills and be able to provide resources for the society and contribute one's own strength. University is an important stage of professional theory learning. After that, it is the combination of theory and practice. The labor force trained by universities should be high-quality labor force, not ordinary labor force. College students have mastered certain knowledge and learned some knowledge that ordinary uneducated workers don't know. This is a great advantage. They should apply what they have learned to help their companies, enterprises or institutions make contributions. This is a two-way interaction. In the process of college students' growth, society has provided them with countless resources. When they come out to work, it's time for them to give back to society. Since the founding of New China, China has eliminated a large number of illiterates, and the education popularization rate has been increasing. However, for a long time, labor-intensive industries have been the main factor to promote China's economic growth. But this type of industry not only puts us at the end of the industrial chain, but also greatly destroys the resources of our country and dampens our national self-confidence. Therefore, we urgently need to adjust the economic structure and accelerate the development of the tertiary industry. Such adjustment and transformation are absolutely inseparable from highly skilled college students!

Always stick to your hobbies and keep your dreams. I have always felt that people without hobbies are like walking dead. Hobbies are a good way to adjust a person's state, which can free a person from stress and adjust his mentality to live a better life. And dreams, you can't give up, even if you don't have a chance to realize them now, what if you have a chance in the future?

University is an extremely important link in social operation, and it is a vital conveyor belt and link. People trained by universities can determine the direction of the whole society and the fate of the nation and the country. Therefore, the government and universities themselves should pay close attention to and constantly think about how to improve university education and how to cultivate qualified and useful talents for the society.
