At present, about 50,000 visually impaired people apply for guide dogs every year in China. Except Dalian base, there are only a few guide dog training bases in China (the number of dogs provided is not large), so far the total number of guide dogs in China is no more than 200. According to international regulations, only when more than 1% of the blind people in a country use guide dogs can it be called the popularization of guide dogs.
China Guide Dog Dalian Training Base was established in 2006. It is a non-profit guide dog training institution approved by China Disabled Persons' Federation. As a non-profit organization, the base will send all trained guide dogs to the visually impaired free of charge.
Basic information
The base is located in the campus of Dalian Medical University. The kennel, office space and water and electricity are provided by Dalian Medical University free of charge. There are 25 employees in the base, including 5 international certified training lecturers and 0 trainer/kloc-0.
The base has a relatively perfect operation system: in the breeding of breeding dogs, the base comprehensively evaluates the dog's personality, bone development, physical health, pedigree and heredity in strict accordance with the requirements of national standards; In terms of training technology, the base draws lessons from international advanced technology and experience, and combines the use environment and requirements of guide dogs in China to continuously explore.
