The College of Food Science of South China Agricultural University was developed on the basis of the specialty of storage and processing of agricultural products founded by Li Peiwen, a famous expert and first-class professor in China, in 1983. 1994 established the department of food science, and in 200 1 it was reorganized into the college of food science. The college has a doctoral/master's degree authorization point and a postdoctoral mobile station in the first-class discipline of food science and engineering, and the discipline is a key discipline (first-class) in Pan Feng, Guangdong Province.
The college has four departments of food science, food engineering, bioengineering and packaging engineering, 1 provincial teaching experiment demonstration center.
