Edward Clayton 1820 was born in Ohio, USA, and later became a businessman.

Edward Clayton moved to Omaha, Nebraska, USA on 1856. After his death, the inheritance was taken over by his wife, Mary Lucretia Clayton. Mary is very keen on charity and is a famous philanthropist. She often sends money, food and other necessities to poor families in Omaha in her own name.

Mary died on 1876. In her will, she mentioned that in memory of her husband Edward, she would provide $65,438+000,000 to buy land and build a college in Omaha.

The school was established in 1878.

1878 In September, the missionary Roman Saffre led five Jesuit members, two teachers and one hundred students to establish Clayton College. In the following years, Clayton College attracted hundreds of Jesuits to work here.

The oldest building on campus is Clayton Building (also called Administration Building). At the beginning of the school, it was the residence of Jesuit members and the place where students took classes, including the principal's office.

Sarah Emily Clayton wants students to have a place to worship. At her suggestion, St. John's Church was completed on May 6th. 1888. 1897, St. John's parish was established, from which churches can hold baptisms, weddings and funerals.

1892, John a Clayton medical college was established. After that, Clayton School became a truly famous medical school.

1904, joined the Omaha Bar Association cooperation project to establish a law school.
