Xiang Xing College of Xiangtan University was established in August, 20001. It is an independent college sponsored by Xiangtan University with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. It is the first independent college organized by a comprehensive national key university in Hunan Province. It is located in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, the hometown of Comrade Mao Zedong, and is closely connected with the campus of Xiangtan University, with beautiful campus environment, advanced infrastructure and complete conditions for running schools. The second phase expansion project is under construction and will be completed in 2008.
