Zhou Jianying graduated from the Department of Optics of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, 1982. 1988 after receiving his doctorate in Imperial College London, London, England, he entered the postdoctoral mobile station of physics of Sun Yat-sen University and studied under Professor Gao. He left the station at 1990. He has been promoted to associate researcher, professor and doctoral supervisor. He used to be the director of the Institute of Laser and Spectroscopy of Sun Yat-sen University, the director of the State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technology, and the dean of the Institute of Technology. Now he is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Technology of Sun Yat-sen University.
