Xiamen University (XMU for short), located in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is a key university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, Fujian Province and Xiamen City, and ranks among the national "double-class" and "21/project".

It is the first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education. The National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Alliance and the "265438+20th Century Maritime Silk Road" University Alliance are the leading sponsors of universities, the founding members of the China-Europe Business School Alliance and the China Artificial Intelligence Education Association, and the members of the General Education Alliance, CDIO Engineering Education Alliance, Haixi Medical Alliance and China University Free Trade Zone Research Alliance.

By April 2022, the school has established Siming Campus, Zhangzhou Campus, Xiang 'an Campus and Malaysia Campus. The four campuses cover an area of more than 9,700 mu, including about 900 mu in Malaysia. There are graduate schools, 6 departments, 33 colleges (directly affiliated departments) and 16 research institutes; There are nearly 3,000 full-time teachers and 32 academicians of the two academies; There are more than 44,000 students and 20,000 undergraduates.

Discipline construction:

By April 2022, the school has 2 disciplines, 5 first-class disciplines and 9 national key disciplines. 32 post-doctoral mobile stations; Thirty-seven doctorates authorized first-level disciplines, and 46 master's degrees authorized first-level disciplines.

8 independent second-level interdisciplinary subjects; There are 2 categories of doctoral degree authorization and 29 categories of master degree authorization. In 2022, six disciplines including education, chemistry, marine science, biology, ecology and statistics were selected into the list of world-class disciplines published by the state.
