At present, our college has a first-class doctoral program and post-doctoral mobile station in materials science and engineering, covering four doctoral programs in two disciplines: materials physics and chemistry, materials processing engineering, materials science and biomaterials and tissue engineering, and enrolling doctoral students and master students in more than two disciplines and four directions. Undergraduate students are enrolled and trained according to the major categories of materials science and engineering, with four directions: metal materials, civil engineering materials, electronic information materials, and preparation and application of advanced materials. Focusing on the goal of building a research-oriented world-class university, the college actively promotes the cultivation of talents and the construction of teaching staff with scientific research as the guide. In the past five years, our institute has undertaken more than 80 national "863" high-tech and "973" key basic research projects, key, major and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, national key projects, high-tech projects of the Science, Technology and Industry Committee for National Defense, key projects of the Ministry of Education, transformation projects of scientific and technological achievements in Jiangsu Province, key projects, high-tech projects and natural science foundation projects. He has participated in many major national engineering construction tasks such as shenzhou spaceship, Three Gorges Water Conservancy Project, Runyang Bridge, Nanjing Subway and Sutong Bridge, and has successively won three national invention awards, more than ten provincial scientific and technological progress awards, more than 30 invention patents, and published more than 700 high-level papers. In recent years, our college has developed rapidly, bringing up a team of teachers who are both competent in teaching and undertaking scientific research. There are 40 full-time teachers in the hospital, including 3 full-time and associate professors1person and 9 doctoral supervisors1person. The proportion of teachers with doctoral degrees is as high as 78%. What's more worth mentioning is that Professor Sun Wei was successfully elected as an academician of China Academy of Engineering in 2005. At present, there are four teaching and research sections of civil engineering materials, electronic information materials, metal materials and material processing engineering, a school-level analysis and testing center that has passed the national metrology certification, a key laboratory of civil engineering materials in Jiangsu Province and a key laboratory of advanced metal materials in Jiangsu Province. The college enrolls about 120 undergraduates, about 60 master students and doctoral students every year, and nearly 50% of undergraduate graduates are promoted to graduate students every year. Since 2003, the College has exchanged international students with university of ulm. The college has also set up a number of special scholarships for materials such as Miao Scholarship, Scholarship, Scholarship, Jinding Scholarship and Shen Scholarship, which has created a good learning and development space for the cultivation of students.
