Suzhou University of Science and Technology, located in Suzhou, was formed by the merger of Suzhou Urban Construction and Environmental Protection College, a university directly under the former Ministry of Construction, and Suzhou Railway Normal College, a university directly under the former Ministry of Railways. 20 17 became a university jointly established by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Jiangsu Province, and in the same year, it was granted the right to confer doctoral degrees in Jiangsu Province, which was awarded to the project construction unit.
The school has three campuses: Shihu, Jiangfeng and Tianping. Shihu Campus, the main campus, is adjacent to Shihu. The campus covers an area of 2,300 mu, with a school building area of more than 600,000 square meters.
