Southwest University, located under Jinyun Mountain in Beibei District, Chongqing, is the national "21Project", "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform", "1/65438 Plan" and "20 165438 Plan".

The school was formed in 2005 by the merger of Southwest Normal University, a university directly under the former Ministry of Education, and Southwest Agricultural University, a key university directly under the former Ministry of Agriculture. The original two schools were built adjacent to each other and of the same origin, and both started to open a new Chinese school in the southwest on 1906. After several developments, it has become the Southwest University directly under the Central Ministry of Education jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Chongqing Municipality.
