Guizhou Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1979, formerly known as Guizhou Radio and TV University in 1979. In 2008, Guizhou Vocational and Technical College was founded on the basis of Guizhou Radio and TV University. In 2020, with the approval of Guizhou Provincial People's Government, Guizhou Radio and TV University was renamed and transformed into Guizhou Open University.
