How big is Central South University?
Central South University was formed by the merger of three universities on April 29th, 2000, so its geographical location also followed the original three universities.

1997, the former Central South University of Technology merged with Changsha Institute of Technology across the street, and was established as the South Campus of Central South University of Technology to train all freshmen in a unified way. In April 2000, the former Central South University of Technology, Hunan Medical University and Changsha Railway Institute merged to form a first-class university in Hunan-Central South University. The first three schools were called Yuelu Mountain Campus of Central South University, Xiangya Campus of Central South University and Railway Campus of Central South University, and the headquarters of the school-level party and government organs were moved to Yuelu Mountain Campus. At the end of 2000, according to the instruction of the Ministry of Education, the school headquarters was located in the former Central South University of Technology, and the three campuses were renamed as Central South University Headquarters, Xiangya Medical College of Central South University (also known as Xiangya Campus of Central South University) and Railway Campus of Central South University (also known as Railway College of Central South University). In the traditional sense, Central South University is divided into three campuses.

Introduce the geographical location, first introduce the pattern of Changsha: Changsha is the capital of Hunan Province, the first batch of historical and cultural cities announced by the State Council and the first batch of tourist cities open to the outside world. It has jurisdiction over five districts of Furong, Tianxin, Yuelu, Kaifu and Yuhua, three counties of Changsha, Wangcheng and Ningxiang and Liuyang City, with a total land area of1.65,438+0.8 million square kilometers, an urban area of 556 square kilometers and a built-up area of 1.70 square kilometers. The urban population is 6.5438+0.4 million, and the total population is 60.65438+0.8 million. In addition to the above administrative divisions, Changsha City is divided into Hedong and Hexi unconsciously because the Xiangjiang River passes through the city. Hedong is a traditional business district and a narrow urban area, and Hexi is Yuelu Mountain University Town and a high-tech park under construction. Go west from the main entrance of the railway station, which is called "wuyi avenue" all the way to Changsha, with a total length of 4 kilometers. Go straight along the avenue, cross the Xiangjiang Bridge, and you will arrive at Hexi area. Cross the bridge, walk along Shannan Road, the main road of the university town, go south for about five minutes, pass Hunan Normal University for another five minutes, and then drive for seven or eight minutes to the south campus of Central South University. The next stop on the south campus (about 200 meters apart) is the headquarters of Central South University.

All the campuses of Central South University are in Changsha, with 70,000 teachers and students, plus nearly100,000 teachers' families. Xu Yunzhao, vice governor of Hunan Province, once said to Li Jian, secretary of the Party Committee of our school, "One in every 14 people in Changsha is from Central South!"

The location of the headquarters (formerly Central South University of Technology) consists of the main campus and the south campus, so the headquarters in a broad sense includes the main campus and the south campus, and the headquarters in a narrow sense refers to the main campus. The school headquarters covers an area of nearly 1700 mu, which is the largest of all campuses. Located in Yuelu District, Changsha City, within the Second Ring Road of Changsha, the west gate is only 50 meters away from the Second Ring Road. The South Campus covers an area of nearly 500 mu (including Tianma Apartment Phase II) and is located in the southeast of the main campus. The school gates of the two campuses face Lushan South Road, and the school gates are about 200 meters apart.

General location: southwest corner of Changsha.

Xiangya Medical College (formerly Hunan Medical University) has three affiliated hospitals. The old campus of Xiangya Medical College is very small, with an area of less than 100 mu. Located next to Xiangya First Affiliated Hospital, Hedong Xiangya Road.

General location: northwest of Changsha central area.

The new campus of Xiangya Medical College covers an area of nearly 1,000 mu and is located next to the Third Affiliated Hospital of Xiangya. The campus was built in 2003, all of which are first-class in China and located in Hexi.

General location: northwest corner of Changsha.

Xiangya Second Affiliated Hospital is located near the railway station, five minutes' drive away, and is located in the downtown area.

General location: southeast of Changsha Central District.

The railway campus covers an area of nearly 700 mu and is located in Shaoshan South Road, the most prosperous street in Changsha. Its school-run Yingbinlou Hotel is the only three-star hotel in Hunan Province, and the four-star hotel, He Yi Restaurant, is directly opposite the old campus gate. About 300 meters south of the campus is the headquarters of xiaoxiang morning herald, the largest newspaper in Hunan, about 1000 meters is the Changsha campus of Central South Forestry College, and about 3000 meters is Changsha Women's University.

General location: south of Changsha Central District.

In short, the three campuses of Central South University (five small campuses and three affiliated hospitals) are all over Changsha, so Tang Zhixiang, the former deputy governor of Hunan Province and the current deputy director of the Provincial People's Congress, once said: "Central South University is as big as Changsha!"
